James (Scoop) Scovel passed away at home on June 10, 2022, surrounded by his wife Marsha and their children.
James R. (Scoop) Scovel was born September 27, 1939 in Earlville, Iowa. He is the only child of Howard and Ethel Scovel. Jim was raised in Earlville, attending the Earlville Schools. He graduated in 1958.
Jim and Marsha Oelke were married on February 6, 1960 in Earlville. With their marriage he inherited a mother-in-law who loved him like her son, and 7 brothers and sisters who loved him like their brother.
Jim is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marsha, and their four children, Christy Lynn Scovel (Rusk), James Kelly Scovel, Kerry Allen Scovel and Jay Robert Scovel. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and many family and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his father and mother, Howard and Ethel Scovel, his mother and father-in-law, Jim and Audrey Oelke, his adopted brother JD Oelke and his granddaughter Tia Scovel.
There will be a celebration of Life for Jim Scovel on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at the Eagles Club in Asbury (5900 Saratoga St. Asbury, IA) from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established
