HANSON, SCHREIBER, HEMING

Thomas A. Hanson, age 77 of Dubuque, IA, completed his earthly journey suddenly on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at UnityPoint Health-Finley Hospital in Dubuque. To celebrate Tom's life, a private family service is being held. The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Tom's family.

Tom was born on September 8, 1941, in Dubuque, a son to Albert and Mary (Schreiber) Hanson. Growing up in Dubuque, Tom quickly learned the value of family, friendship and a strong work ethic. After graduating from Dubuque Senior High School, Tom signed up to honorably serve his country in the U.S. Army. Upon completing his service, Tom was united in marriage to his beautiful bride, Judy Heming in 1966 and they spent 38 wonderful years together until she was sadly called home ahead of Tom in 2004. Tom had begun his working career with John Deere just before getting married and he faithfully devoted over 44 years of his time and talents there until he finally retired in 2004.

Tom was quiet and modest man throughout his entire life, but he always appreciated any opportunity to have a little fun and excitement in his day after his responsibilities had been met. Snowmobiling in the winter and riding his Harley in the summer would always bring Tom out of his shell. A weekend at the cottage in Buenie was also a wonderful way for Tom and Judy to spend a little quality time together. More recently Tom enjoyed seeing how many miles he could put on his new Scooter each week and everyday he was able to ride was a day Tom found real satisfaction in.

To say Tom was a generous and kind man simply doesn't define his true character. Never one to spoil himself, Tom continually found great inner peace with his ability to bless countless others through his humble heart. We are surely shocked at the sudden physical absence of Tom from our lives, but we know and trust that he is now being reuniting with all of his family who've been called home before him, and we are beyond grateful for all of the tangible memories this truly genuine man has left behind for us. Thank you, Tom for all of the love, life and laughs you shared with us and may we discover peace in them all until we see you again.

Those left behind to cherish the memory of Tom include,

his sisters,

Char (Wayne) Pregler, Elkader, IA,
and Linda (Steve) Charley, Rock Hill, S.C.;

his brother-in-law,
Duke Eppler, Dickeyville, WI;

along with his 14 nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Judy; his brothers, David Hanson and Richard (Pat) Hanson; and his sister, Patti Eppler.

Tom's family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Dubuque Specialty Care, and Finley Hospital for all of their professional and sincere care of Tom, and his family.

Online condolences may be shared with Tom's family at www.tristatecremationcenter.com
