Maurice L. Lampe, 96, of Dubuque, died of natural causes at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 13, at Ennoble Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was surrounded by his loving family.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 16, at the Church of the Resurrection, 4300 Asbury Road in Dubuque. Friends may greet the family during a visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the church. Entombment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home.

Maurie was born on March 19, 1922 in St. Donatus, Iowa. He married Dorothy Heinricy on September 1, 1947, at Holy Ghost Church, and they settled in Dubuque. Maurie served in the U.S. Marine Corps at the end of World War II. Discharged in 1946, he started his career as a barber in 1948 and operated his barbershop for 48 years. After retirement he continued to volunteer his services as a barber at area nursing homes and other facilities. Maurie was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Dubourg General Assembly, Fourth Degree, and managed bingo at the Knights of Columbus for many years.

Maurie is survived by his wife, Dorothy, and four sons, David and Martin (Dubuque), James (Valparaiso, IN), and Robert (Ankeny, IA). He is also survived by his brothers Nester and Earl (Juan). He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Theresa (Herrig); sisters Johanna and Monica; brothers Roman (Ann Marie) and Robert (Irene); his sister-in-law Evelyn; and his beloved son John.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Dubuque.
