Sister Therese (Ann Carmelle) Frelo, BVM died Friday, August 17, 2018, at Marion Hall in Dubuque, Iowa. Arrangements are pending. May she rest in peace.
Visitation will be from 9–10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018, in the Marian Hall Chapel, followed immediately by a Sharing of Memories and funeral liturgy. Burial is in the Mount Carmel cemetery.
Sister Therese was born in Chicago on Aug. 8, 1930, to Anthony and Johanna Weir Frelo. She entered the BVM congregation Sept. 8, 1950, from Holy Family Parish, Chicago. She professed first vows on March 19, 1953, and final vows on July 16, 1958.
Sister was an elementary teacher in Davenport, Iowa; Chicago; Cicero, Ill.; and Clarksdale, Miss., where she also ministered as a secondary teacher; and principal in Memphis, Tenn. She served the congregation as Office of Ministry coordinator and regional representative. She was the development director for an inter-congregational ministry resource center in Chicago.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Rita Russo, and a brother Anthony. She is survived by nephews and the Sisters of Charity, BVM, with whom she shared life for 67 years.
