HORR, Leonard. Age 47. Residence Dubuque, nativity New York. Appointed Captain of Company F, 21st Iowa Volunteer Infantry, June 3, 1862. Mustered Aug. 22, 1862. Engaged Battle of Champion Hill, MS. Dismissed May 27, 1863, Vicksburg, MS. Record amended to read: honorably discharged May 27, 1863, the dismissal being revoked by S. O. 96, War Department, Feb. 23, 1867. He had been dismissed because of failing health, but a dismissal could only be given legally by order of a general court martial or the president.
Died of Congestion of the lungs, an accumulation of blood in the pulmonary vessels, Oct. 9, 1869, Dubuque, IA, buried in Linwood Cemetery as L. Horr.
