Maleta A. Dietz

Maleta A. "Skeets" Dietz, 86, of Dubuque, passed away Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, at Luther Manor Care Center, Dubuque.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home & Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road, conducted by Pastor Loren Hirschy. Family will greet friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at the funeral home, additional visitation will be held one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Maleta was born on July 24, 1927, in Dickeyville, Wis., daughter of Phillip and Stella (Digman) Ginter. Maleta graduated from Peosta High School where she enjoyed playing basketball. She also graduated from Dubuque Beauty Academy.

She married Vince Dietz on Feb. 4, 1950, at Nativity Catholic Church. He passed away on May 9, 1996.

Maleta worked for Langes Plastics, Caradco, Silver Dollar and was a cook for the Presentation Sisters.

She was a member of Word of Life Church.

She loved being with her family, grandchildren, cooking and was an avid Bulls and Cubs fan.

Survivors include her children, Dennis (Phyllis) Dietz, of Epworth, Iowa, Jolene (Ted) Johnson, of Dubuque, Carol (Joe) Spinoso, of Asbury, Iowa, and Mary (Matt) Davis, of Dubuque; eight grandchildren, Shane Dietz, Todd (Maria) Johnson, Kirsten (Sean) Hirschy, Peter Spinoso, Adam Spinoso, Zachary Davis, Alicia (Jeremy) Kapp and Matthew Davis Jr.; 10 great-grandchildren, Blair, Ellyana, Gabrielle, Smith, Marissa, Chloe, Maryellen, Kiefer, Ethan and Madilynn; a sister, Irma (Tom) Pfiffner; and a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Ginter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Joe (Donna) Ginter and Vince Ginter; a sister, Priscilla (Ed) Bahl; and her dog, Princess.

A memorial fund has been established in Maleta's memory.
