Mary Irene (Heisler) Rubner 1925-2009

NEW VIENNA, Iowa -- Mary Irene Rubner, 84, of New Vienna, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center-Dyersville.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 7, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Vienna, with the Rev. John O'Connor officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Worthington. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where the St. Boniface Altar & Rosary Society/American Legion Auxiliary will recite the rosary at 4 p.m. and a parish scripture service will be at 7 p.m.

She was born on March 15, 1925, in Bankston, daughter of Joseph and Agnes (Joynt) Heisler. She married Vincent F. Rubner on Nov. 26, 1946, in Dyersville. Together they raised their family in Worthington, where Mary retired as a secretary from St. Paul School.

Vince and Mary moved to New Vienna in 1990, where Mary volunteered at the St. Boniface School Library and enjoyed the company of children. Her hobbies were quilting, crocheting, knitting and trout fishing with Vince.

Mary was a member of the St. Boniface Rosary Society, American Legion Post 137 Auxiliary and the New Vienna Area Historical Society.

Surviving are her husband, Vince; four sons, David (Betty), of Andover, Minn., Kenneth (Bev), of Cedar Rapids, and Thomas (Deb) and Daniel (Kim), both of Worthington; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law and a brother-in-law, Mrs. Clarence (LaVern) Rubner, of Oelwein, and Robert (Marilyn) Rubner, of Arlington.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a half-brother, Raymond Heisler; and brothers-in-law, Clarence Rubner and Donald (Virginia) Rubner.
