Val Kies, Jr.

Val Kies, Jr., was summoned by death Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock. He had been ailing for a long time.

The remains may be viewed any time after Thursday morning at the Hoffman mortuary, Central avenue at Fifteenth street, from where the funeral will be held Friday morning to St. Mary's church at 9 o'clock. Internment will be made in Mt. Calvary cemetery.

Mr. Kies was born in Mosalem township,September 14, fourty years ago and had always resided in this community. He is survived by his two daughters, Delores and Lou Mae, a son, Raymond, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Valentine Kies, Sr., nine sisters, Mesdames J. O. Bancks, John Huss, Ollie Welu, John and Peter Stork, all of this city; Mesdames Angeline Spahn, O. R. Irwin and William Lange, Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Guy Irwin, Baltimore; also three brothers, John, Michael and Frank, all of Dubuque.

Mr. Kies was a devout Catholic and was comforted in his last hour by the rites of that religion. His death brings deep sorrow to all who knew him and his grief-stricken relatives have the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement.
