Neither Dead nor Sleeping

Yesterday morning Sheriff Ferring went to the cell of Mrs. Emma Maloney, the insane woman, to arouse her to make preparations to start for the insane asylum. Getting no response he entered the cell and was startled to see a lifeless form before him. He at once summoned Mr. B. F. Davis, who is kindly caring for John Miller, whose mind is diseased. Mr. Davis after viewing the still form of the woman, was of the opinion of the Sheriff that life had departed. Mr. Ferring then went to Mr. Salot’s residence and called him. He came, examined the body, felt the pulse and discovered that there was still life. The body was immediately removed from the cell into the fresh air, and in a short time the poor woman revived. She was able to accompany the Sheriff to the asylum yesterday, and is now where she can get the treatment that the character of the malady requires.
