A Child Kicked by a Horse

On circus day while a three year old son of Mr. Kirmse, who lives at the upper end, opposite Jackson Square, a vicious horse, that was loose in the street, ran toward it and kicked it in the head, completely crushing in the skull bone. The little one was picked up by persons who happened to be passing by and carried it to the house, where surgical aid was summoned. The physicians summoned despaired of saving the little one’s life but it was living last night, and hopes were entertained of its recovery. The child had not been playing with or bothering the horse. The animal kicked the child out of pure viciousness. So dangerous an animal as that ought to be kept where it would not endanger human life.
