Mutilated By A Dog

Yesterday morning a boy named Joseph Chuloupke, about eleven years of age, was attacked by a vicious, powerful, large dog belonging to Mr. Ackermann, on the corner of Thirteenth and Elm Streets, pulled down bitten through the arm, shoulder, and badly mutilated on the back and other parts of the body. The boy was rescued and the savage brute killed. We are informed that he was previously bitten three or four boys and two men. Why such dangerous dogs are allowed to run at large is a mystery. If they are valuable in the estimation of their owners they should be kept in such a way that children cannot be torn to pieces by them. One child is of more consequence than all the dogs in cremation. This boy’s father has taken legal advice and will await the result of the damages to his son before commencing proceeding for redress.
