Accident to an Old Miner-The Galena Gazette of Monday has the following account of an accident to an old miner, well known to many in Dubuque.

Mr. Joseph Wise, the well-known miner of Sand Prairie, met with an ugly accident last Friday. He had been out to his farm on horseback, and while on his way home the horse slipped down on some ice, falling with his whole weight on Mr. Wise’s leg, severely fracturing the leg in two places. Mr. Wise being alone was obliged to drag himself along with his hands to a place where assistance could be had. Dr. Fowler was called to reduce the fractures, and it is hoped the patient will recover. The circumstances, however, are rather unfavorable, Mr. Wise being somewhat advanced in age and quite feeble, having just recovered from a severe attack of lung fever.

Mr. Wise is very well known here. He sold fish in Galena market for many years, has been a successful miner, and is wealthy.
