JOHN J. VON HOLDT

Funeral services were held for John Von Holdt, 86, of Lake Park, Iowa, on Thursday, April 23,1981, at 1:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Park with Rev. Doug Ganyo officiating.

John Von Holdt was born to Peter and Mary Bielmann Von Holdt on Jan. 6, 1895, at Davenport, Iowa. On Dec. 3, 1924, he was united in marriage to Nellie Bergendahl at Spirit Lake, Iowa. They lived and farmed in the Sioux Valley, Mn., area and also north of Lake Park, retiring in 1960. Following his retirement, he was assistant custodian for approximately nine years at the Silver Lake Cemetery.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a 50-year, member of the American Legion.

He entered the Lake Park Care Center on Nov. 1, 1980, and passed away at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital on April 20,1981, after being hospitalized there for 10 days.

Mrs. Loretta McCIain, organist, accompanied soloist, Mrs. Virginia McCIain, as she sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Beyond The Sunset."

John is survived by one sister, Mrs. Chris Hass, and one brother, Ray Von Holdt, both of Lake Park, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie, his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Pallbearers were provided by the Lake Park American Legion. Military services were held at graveside. Interment was in Silver Lake Cemetery, Lake Park, Iowa, with Leyson Funeral Home of Lake Park in charge of arrangements
