CHESTER F. PEACOCK

Chester Floyd Peacock, son of Ira F. and Mary E. Shriver Peacock, was born April 15, 1907 and died Sept. 28, 1970 while watching a football game at Hafer Field in which his son was participating.

He was born at Churdan, Iowa and lived in that community and Northfield, Minn, before moving to Spirit Lake where he graduated from high school. He also attended the Art Institute in Chicago, Ill.

Mr. Peacock enlisted in the U.S. navy Feb. 5, 1942 and served until Sept. 9, 1946. He served overseas during World War II, and was discharged at Shoemaker Calif.

On June 21, 1947, he was united in marriage to Marjorie L. Saupe at Jackson, Minn. The couple resided in Spirit Lake from that time, and he was a building contractor. Mr. Peacock was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Garden Club, VFW and Methodist Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Marjorie L.; a son, Jon, at home; one sister, Mrs. Beulah Westbrook of Jefferson, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 1, 1970 at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wayne L. Carlson officiating.

Music was provided by Mr. and Mrs. Paul Redington. Pallbearers were A. L. Stephenson, Peter B. Narey, Robert Olson, Lloyd Stammer, Wayne Dayton, Albert Duhn. Honorary pallbearers were Carl Johnson and Bill Winans.

Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery with the Harpole-Tenold Funeral Home in charge. Masonic graveside rites were conducted by Twilight Lodge Nor. 329.
