Frieda Crandell Poggemiller, 93, of West Burlington died at 2:40 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born January 4, 1910, at Nebraska City, Nebraska, she was the daughter of Martin and Sarah Pugh Wieckhorst. On June 7, 1928, she married Clarence A. Crandell in Nebraska City. He died December 3, 1970. On March 17, 1979, she married Roy Poggemiller in West Burlington. He died August 19, 1989.

Mrs. Poggemiller worked at Younkers.

She was a 1928 graduate of Nebraska City High School. She was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, a member of the Women of the Moose, Eastern Star No. 545, Pyramid Temple No. 10 and Daughters of the Nile. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons, Martin L. Crandell of Storm Lake and Robert M. Crandell of Winona, Minnesota; one daughter, Lois Ann Swisher of Middletown; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.

Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Sunday at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. There will be a prayer service at 4 p.m. at Lunning Chapel, with Pastor Paula Anderson officiating.

A graveside service for Mrs. Poggemiller will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Wyuka Cemetery, Nebraska City, with the Reverend Orrin Johnson officiating.

Memorials have been established for the music department at the University of South Dakota and for the American Heart Association.
