Mrs. Mabel A. Johnson, 83, rural West Burlington, died at 12:34 a.m. Monday, December 30 (1985), at Burlington Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was born April 25, 1902, in Des Moines County. She married Henry Fred Johnson October 24, 1934, at Ft. Madison. He died April 2, 1952.
She was a rural school teacher for 16 years before her retirement, a former president of Widows of World War I, and a member of the VFW Auxiliary and St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Surviving: One brother, Mr. Leonard J. Bauman, West Burlington; one sister, Mrs. Esther Funk, Bettendorf; five nieces and one nephew; great-nieces and nephews.
Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, January 2 (1986), St. Mary's Catholic Church, West Burlington; Fr. Louis Mulligan; rosary in Prugh's Chapel 7 p.m. Wednesday.
A memorial has been established for St. Mary's Catholic Church.
