Funeral services for Mrs. Catherine Daly, widow of Patrick Daly, who passed away early yesterday at her home, 924 North 4th St. will be held at St Paul's Catholic church. Mrs. Daly had been ill since last Sunday. Influenza which developed into pneumonia caused her death.

Catherine Boland was born in County Wexford, Ireland on 10/2/1840, and came to this city when she was 25 years old in April 1865. She was married in this city on 10/20/1865 to Patrick Daly, who preceded her in death with two sons. She made her home at 924 N 4th St since coming to Burlington. She was a member of St Pauls Catholic church. Mrs Daly is survived by 3 daughters: Mrs. Etta Bowman, of Rushville, IL; Mrs. J.H. Collins of Seattle, Washington; and Miss Mary Daly at home; and 3 sons: J.J Daly of Chicago, P.F. Daly, and M.W. Daly, both of Burlington.

Notes: Catherine Boland, according to family stories, came to the USA with Bridget and Sarah Daly (sisters of Patrick Daly). They are said to have arrived in the harbor on the day Lincoln was shot (April 14, 1865). Shortly after arriving to Burlington, Iowa, Catherine married Patrick. In the Des Moines County Marrage Book #6, Catherine is listed as "Catharine Boylen" and Patrick as "Patrick Daily".
