Ruth Ann Knapp

Ruth Ann Knapp, 85, of Danville, died Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at the Klein Center in West Burlington.

Born October 22, 1937, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Thomas and Miriam Stevens Stout. On December 22, 1957, she married Leonard Calvin Knapp in Burlington, who passed away on August 3, 2008.

She graduated from Burlington High School, and later received her teaching certificate in college.

As a young girl, Ruth Ann loved horses. She worked and saved her money to buy her first horse when she was a teenager. Once married, Ruth Ann and her husband, owned, raised, and showed many horses. Showing registered POA's and quarter horses. Ruth Ann and Leonard were active members of all the local saddle clubs and had many horsey friends. Ruth Ann was an accomplished seamstress and created many show outfits for people all over the state. In retirement she showed her skills with the many beautiful quilts she made. She entered her quilts in local shows and won awards for her beautiful work.

While her children were young, Ruth Ann was involved in many family projects keeping her busy. Such as keeping the family menagerie of animals cared for. Ruth Ann also worked as a bookkeeper and tax preparer for many years. Most of the time, she prepared taxes out of her home. Ruth Ann loved and continued to prepare taxes into her eighties, and enjoyed seeing all her clients each year.

Ruth Ann was an avid reader and loved Christmas. She saved and shopped throughout the year to be able to give that special gift. Ruth Ann enjoyed her grandchildren and was so proud of their accomplishments and was blessed to have great-grandchildren. She was a kind and caring person that had many friends. Ruth Ann always gave more to others than she asked in return.

Her family included two brothers, Howard Stout, Paul Stout (deceased); two daughters, Cynthia Kelley, Gayle (Joe) Holtkamp; three sons, Scott Knapp (deceased), John Knapp, Gary Knapp; granddaughter, Jessica (Josh) Mickey; two nieces, Paula (Tom) Morgan, Keli Morgan; as well as 8 other grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Monday, November 28, 2022, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division St., Burlington.

The memorial service for Ruth Ann will be 11:00 AM Monday, November 28, 2022, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division St., Burlington with Reverend Tamara Wirt officiating. Burial will be in Long Creek Cemetery, rural Danville.
