Burlington Gerry T. Walker, 64 of Burlington died Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Born November 11, 1957 in Burlington, IA, he was the son of Ronald Chick and Helen Marie (Anderson) Walker.

Gerry earned a degree in Turf Management from Danville Area Community College

He married Coeli Catherine Inghram on December 29, 1981 and later divorced. They had two children, Ivy and Jordan.

Gerry spent the majority of his career working in turf management and landscaping. He proudly served as superintendent at Flint Hills Golf Course for 17 years. He later went on to run his own lawn care company, Lawngevity, LLC.

Gerry was an Eagle Scout, passionate about aviation, golfing, stock car racing and fishing. Gerry naturally had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening, forever perfecting his tomato crop.

He was not only father to Ivy and Jordan, but a loving cat dad as well. He had many cats throughout his life, most recently, a 3-legged cat called Tripod, or Bubby.

Survivors include his loving companion, Patty Lewis of Burlington; daughter Ivy Savanah (Jacob) Boyd of Norwalk, IA; son Jordan Trevor Walker of Des Moines, IA; brother Jim (Melodee) Walker of Wheaton, IL; sister Pamela (Richard Munde) Walker of New York, NY.; nephews Patrick and Eric Walker; Nieces Juliet Munde, Oesa Weaver and Kamiah Phillips.

Gerry was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jon.

The funeral service for Gerry will be at 2:00 Wednesday, January 26th at Lunning Chapel. Interment will follow at Aspen Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. until the time of service. Due to current health concerns, the family requires that everyone wear masks.
