Florence Viola Luckenbill Howey, 93, of Attica, died at 2 a.m. Sunday, April 13, 2008, in Home Hospital, Lafayette.

She was born in Burlington, Iowa, on March 23, 1915, the daughter of the late Arthur and Alice Thompson Luckenbill. She was raised in the Mediapolis, Iowa, area and graduated from Huron High School near Mediapolis.

She moved to the Odell community in 1935, where she and her husband operated a Marathon station and grocery store. She moved to Attica in 2005.

Mrs. Howey enjoyed gardening and reading.

On Nov. 9, 1935, she married Francis E. Howey in Gladstone, Ill. He preceded her in death on July 3, 2001.

Surviving are two sons, Leslie Howey (wife: Carol) and Robert Howey (wife: Jean), both of Odell. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers and a sister.
