Judith Carleen Boecker Darnell 1943-2021

Judith Carleen Darnell, age 78, of Burlington died Sunday, May 23, 2021 after a 10-year battle with fallopian tube cancer at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
She was born April 16, 1943 in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Carl F. and Aileen (Anderson) Boecker. On February 23, 1964 she married Ronald Dean Darnell at Harmony Bible Church in Danville. They were blessed with 57 years together.
She was a 1961 graduate of Danville High School and the Burlington Beauty Academy. She worked at Sylvania, and the Allure Beauty Lounge. In 2007 she retired from Champion Spark Plug after 42 years of service.
She was a member of UAW Local 1237, where she served on the executive board. She was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church, where she enjoyed sewing for the White Cross, and served on the deaconess committee.
Mrs. Darnell enjoyed her family, winters in Hawaii with her husband, summers with her family at their condo in Osage Beach, cruises, traveling, golfing, walking, beautiful sunrises, and doing things for others.
She is survived by her husband Ronald of Burlington, her daughter Ronda and husband Joe Arndt of Fairfield, her son Jeff and wife Katy of Burlington, and two granddaughters, Carleen Darnell of West Burlington and Emily Darnell of Burlington.
Mrs. Darnell is also survived by her sister Donna (Orville) Weyrick of Milan, MO *; her brothers Kenneth Boecker of Danville, Leonard (Rosemary) Boecker of Burlington, and Randall Boecker of Lowell.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Mrs. Darnell would like to thank her Oncology doctor and the entire team at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for the wonderful care she received while fighting this cancer battle.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 28th at Lunning Chapel. Pastor T.J. Rehak will officiate. Inurnment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 27th at Lunning Chapel.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel.
Memorials have been established for the University of Iowa OBGYN Cancer research fund and Oak Street Baptist Church.
