DISTINGUISHED DEAD.
Dr. Charles Beardsley died at his home in Burlington, Iowa, Dec. 29th. He was 65 years old, and was widely known in Iowa. He came to Burlington in 1865, and became the editor of the Burlington Hawkeye, and continued as such until 1874. He represented Des Moines county in the state' senate from 1870 to 1878. He was Fourth Auditor of the Treasury under President Hayes. Also served several years as Chairman of the Republican State Central Committee, but, in whatever position he held, was always a consistent Christian gentleman. His wife and five children survive him.
