Loretta Sue Siefken Heater, 53, of Mediapolis died Thursday, October 4, 2012, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born August 24, 1959, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Gerald and Bette Honson Siefken of Mediapolis. On November 12, 1988, she married David Yaley. Later, on January 18, 2005, she married Jerry Heater in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

Mrs. Heater was a 1977 graduate from Mediapolis High School and received her bachelor of arts in special education from Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville, Missouri. She was a developmental preschool teacher in the Burlington School District, retiring in 2007 due to health issues.

She was a member of the West Burlington Christian Church. She enjoyed going to Bible study and church services. She was an inspiration to all who knew her, with her cheerful smile and giving nature. She loved to travel and spent many memorable moments with family on tropical vacations. She always was thinking of others, sending cards and shopping for special gifts for family and friends.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Brandon Yaley of Mediapolis; her parents; one sister, Lori Werner of Danville; one stepdaughter, Autumn Samuels of Burlington; one stepson, Jeremy Heater of Burlington; four step-grandchildren; two nieces; one nephew; and one great-nephew.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, three brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis, where family will receive friends.

The funeral service for Mrs. Heater will be at 10 a.m. Monday at West Burlington Christian Church. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, in rural Wapello. Following burial, family and friends are invited to share time together with a lunch at Mediapolis City Hall.

A memorial has been established for Shiloh Christian Children's Ranch.
