Winona Anderson

Winona Irene Anderson, 90, of Oakville, died at 7:55 PM Sunday, April 22, 2018, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born February 8, 1928, in Latty, IA, she was the daughter of George and Alta Benkert Riemann. On June 3, 1948, she married Max Lyman Anderson at the Kingston United Methodist Church. He died on May 20, 2011.

Winona worked as a store clerk from age 14 until her marriage, then helped on the Anderson family farm until they retired in 1998.

She attended Pegtown and Kingston Grade School and graduated from Huron High School in 1945.

She attended Kingston Methodist Church from 1938 until 1972 when she and Max joined The Living Word Fellowship at Kalona where she was a member.

She enjoyed reading the Bible and other books, sewing, the Mississippi River with Max, working the fields and garden, flowers, games with family, and her computer, especially her family and friends.

Survivors include four children, Jim (Sherry) Anderson, Mary (Rick) Brown, Andrew (Bonnie) Anderson, and Marla (Joe) Miller; 11 grandchildren, Jamie (Derek) Feiza, Jessica (Jason) Haages, Daniel (Emily) Anderson, Christopher (Stephanie) Brown, Craig (Wendy) Brown, Miranda (Justin) Clubb, Marissa (Jerome) Watson, Dustin Miller, Randee (Rob) Zurmuehlem, Chrissa (Travis) Cox, and David (Saysamone) Breuer; nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two sisters, Virginia (Jim) Kidder, and Doris (Kenneth) Rechkemmer; one brother, Donald Riemann; two brothers-in-law, Elmer Springsteen, and Marvin Miller; and nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, one sister-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and three infant nieces.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM with the family to receive friends from noon until 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home. The funeral service for Mrs. Anderson will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor Chuck Rogness officiating. Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in her name.
