Rose Marie Pogemiller Burke, 98, of Salinas, California, died Monday, July 30, 2001.

Born in 1902 in Pleasant Grove, she was the daughter of Emma Dietsch and H.C. Pogemiller. She married Charles W. Burke Jr. in 1941. He died in 1991.

She lived in the Los Angeles area from 1926 until 1966, operating the Peggy Rose Beauty Salon for some of that time. Her husband was a detective. They moved to Morro Bay, California, in 1966 and lived there until his death.

She enjoyed her life, especially golf, creating fine dinners, sewing, ceramics, camping and travel, her dog, friends and family. She attended the Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church of Morro Bay. Her final years were spent in Salinas at Villa Serra Apartments and Sunridge Rehabilitation Center.

Survivors include a niece, Betty Brown of Cedar Rapids; a nephew (by marriage), LeRoy Glawe of Salinas, several great-nieces and nephews, including Susan Hyatt Lovay of Michigan, formerly of Burlington; and several great-great- nieces and nephews.

There will be no service.

Arrangements are under the direction of Benedict-Rettey Mortuary in Morro Bay.
