Susan Washburn Wolford 1878 - 1951

Mrs. Susan Wolford, 73, of Abingdon, Ill., was stricken with a fatal heart attack while sitting on a studio couch and sewing at the Lewis Hobby home, 424 Hageman avenue, about 2:30 p.m. Friday.
The grandmother of Mrs. Hobby, Mrs Wolford arrived in Burlington for an extended visit Wednesday. Efforts by the Burlington fire department inhalator squad to revive Mrs. Wolford were unsuccessful.
Mrs. Wolford was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Washburn, and was born near New London on June 9, 1878.
Surviving are five children: W.M. Wolford, Monmouth, Ill.; Mrs. Gertrude Kemp and Mrs. Nellie Avery, both of Stronghurst, Ill.; Mrs. Merle Avery, Kirkwood, Ill., and Mrs. Mary White, of Abingdon. A daughter, Edith , died previously.
Also surviving are 27 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Last rites will be held at the Methodist church of Stronghurst at 2 p.m. Monday. The Rev. George Hunt will officiate, and burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery.
The body is at the Mellor funeral home, in Stronghurst.
