Anthony J. Messmer of This City
Passed Away Yesterday Afternoon.

News was received here last night by relativesof the sudden death of Anthony J. Messmer, son of Mr. And Mrs. Sebastian Messmer 301 Gertrude Street, at 5:30 o'clock yesterday in Davenport. He was a painter by trade and went to Davenport four weeks ago to work. As his relatives here had not heard of his sickness, the news of his death comes as a severe shock to them.
Anthony Messmer was born in Burlington, Jan. 2, 1887, and received his education in St. John's school. He afterwards worked at Nairn and Gillies mill and in several other places. He saw four years service in the army during the following World War. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Arthur Perason and Mrs. William Krekel and two brothers, Otto and Edwin, all of this city. The body will be brought to Burlington for burial and the time of the funeral will be announced later.
