Mrs. Darlene Krogmeier-Whalen, 91, of Burlington died at 10:30 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2015, at the home of her daughter.
Born November 23, 1923 in Glenwood, Missouri she was the daughter of Charles and Gladys Branch Hester. On July 19, 1941, she married Albert Krogmeier and he preceded her in death on July 24, 1989. She then married Thomas Whalen on September 12, 1991 in Monmouth, Illinois. He died May 3, 2007.
Darlene formerly worked in production at Sylvania and R. & S. Bottling Company in Burlington and was a Homemaker.
Darlene was a member of SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church and Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W. Post 10102. She enjoyed crocheting, playing Keyboard music, and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Darlene attended Burlington Community Schools.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon (Terry) Wiley of West Burlington, and Cindy (Wayne) Bowen of Burlington; three sons, Eugene (Nancy) Krogmeier of Danville, Gary (Dale) Krogmeier of New London, and Edwin Krogmeier of Burlington; 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson.
Darlene was preceded in death by her husbands, one son Danny Krogmeier, one daughter Georgia McCollum, two grandchildren Tina McCollum and Daryl Krogmeier, three sisters and four brothers.
The funeral service for Mrs. Darlene Krogmeier-Whalen will be 2 p.m. Tuesday February 17, 2015, at Lunning Chapel with Fr. Marty Goetz officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Friends may call after 8 a.m. Tuesday, at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends 12:30 p.m. until the time of service.
Memorials have been established for Special Needs Foundation and the Autumn Heights flower garden.
