Ruth Wischmeier, 82, of Burlington, died at 9:15 AM Saturday, February 7, 2015, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born September 23, 1932, in Newport, IA, she was the daughter of Austin and Nellie Havenhill Hemphill. On August 13, 1950, she married Leonard Wischmeier at the Latty Church in Burlington.

Ruth worked at Mitten Jewelry Store in Hotel Burlington and then for Law's Jewelry in downtown Burlington and was a homemaker.

She graduated from Burlington High School in 1950.

She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #579 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, completing crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, and attending her class luncheons.

Survivors include her husband, Leonard of Burlington; one son, David (Cindy) Wischmeier of Imperial, MO; two daughters, Cindy (Fran) Boyle of West Burlington and Laura (Jim) Moehle of New London; five grandchildren, Tanya Donlan, Peter Boyle, Ann (Eric) Weigel, Heather (John) Tienjaroonkul, and Josh Wischmeier; one great-grandson, Lucas Tienjaroonkul; two brothers, George (Dorothy) Hemphill of Burlington and Harold "Bud" Hemphill of Mediapolis; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Bob Hemphill.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Thielen Crematory.

Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM with the family to receive friends Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

The memorial service for Mrs. Wischmeier will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with Reverend David J. Yonker officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the fellowship hall at the church following the service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Latty Cemetery Association.
