Born July 27, 1918, in Waseca, Minn., she was the daughter of Conrad and Judith Lynquist Swanson. On March 6, 1941, she married Felix McNamee in St. Cloud, Minn. He died in 1956. On Sept. 9, 1971, she married Carl Hires in Burlington. He died Aug. 19, 1982.
Mrs. Hires was a homemaker.
She was a member of West Burlington Christian Church. She enjoyed going to the Senior Citizens Center, shopping, playing bingo and church.
Survivors include three daughters, Diana Andres and Mary Chamberlain, both of West Burlington, and Theresa Norris of Muscatine; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; six sisters, Evangeline Savage of Burlington, Bonnie Anker of Dalton, Ill., Marian Anderson of Mount Pleasant, Gloria Delashmutt and Doris Anderson, both of Davenport, and Margaret Huisman of Elmwood, Ill.; one brother, Donald Swanson of New London; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by two sons, her parents, two sisters and one brother.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
A graveside service for Mrs. Hires will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Aspen Grove Cemetery, with the Rev. John Griffith officiating.
A memorial has been established for West Burlington Christian Church.
