Richard P. Hippe, 79, of Burlington, died at 12:46 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2002, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born Dec. 9, 1922, in Burlington, he was the son of Edward F. and Bertha Paulus Hippe. On July 8, 1945, he married Margie Prox in Burlington.
Mr. Hippe worked for Borden Co. for 26 years, retiring as a manager with the Waterloo company.
He worked for Mid-Continent Bottlers after retirement.
He was a 1940 graduate of Burlington High School. He was of the Protestant faith. He enjoyed woodworking and sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes, Green Bay Packers and St. Louis Cardinals.
Survivors include his wife; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death in by his parents, one son and two brothers.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Lunning Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday.
The funeral for Mr. Hippe will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Tevis officiating.
Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for the American Heart Association and American Kidney Fund.
