Judith Lucille Eland, 85, of Burlington, died at 6:45 AM Thursday, January 29, 2015, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born October 3, 1929, in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of Paul and Lucille Jane McAneny Dewey. On May 6, 1951, she married LeRoy Eland in Monmouth, IL.

Judy worked for the Burlington Community School District as a crossing guard and in the cafeteria.

She attended Burlington High School.

She was very involved with the Des Moines County Humane Society. She enjoyed bowling league, cats, and especially spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Survivors include husband, LeRoy Eland of Burlington; two daughters, Sue (Mike) Whitaker of Burlington and Shelley (Robert) Isaacson of Morrison, IL; four grandchildren, Rick Whitaker of Cedar Rapids, Kim (Jesse) Whitaker-Logan of West Burlington, Josh Isaacson of Berlin, Germany, and Shayla (Brad) Grobe of Morrison, IL; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Thielen Crematory.

There will be no visitation or services.

A memorial has been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society.
