Henry L. "Roy" Poggemiller, 79, of 625 Broadway Street, West Burlington, died Saturday, August 19, 1989, at the St. Francis Continuation Care Center.

Born October 31, 1909, in Pleasant Grove, he was the son of Henry L. and Anna E. Shepard Poggemiller.

He married Frieda C. Wieckhorst Crandell March 17, 1979, in West Burlington. He was employed with the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, Middletown, for 10 years. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, West Burlington, the Moose Lodge, the American Legion and the VFW. He was a veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife; two stepsons, Martin Crandell, Storm Lake, and Robert Crandell, Winona, Minnesota; one stepdaughter, Lois Ann Swisher, Middletown; one brother, Glenn Poggemiller, West Burlington; one sister, Anna Marie Appel, Carman, Illinois; eight step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today with Moose Lodge rites at 7 p.m. at Lunning Chapel.

The service for Mr. Poggemiller will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lunning Chapel with the Reverend Robert G. Sherwood officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, northeast of New London.
