Craig Dee Warner, 65, of Burlington, died at 9:20 a.m. Sunday, March 16, 2003, at University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Born January 30, 1938, in Perry, he was the son of Alfred and Darline Geppert Warner. On June 10, 1978, he married Ana Maria Acebey-Yanguas in Burlington.

Mr. Warner was a trial attorney with Pryor, Riley, Jones and Aspelmeier.

He attended Mexico Military Academy in Mexico, Missouri. He graduated from the University of Arizona and the University of Iowa Law School. He was licensed to practice law in Iowa, Colorado and Arizona. He moved from Cedar Rapids to Burlington in 1977 to join the law firm of Pryor, Riley, Jones and Aspelmeier.

He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Phi Delta Phi, the American Judicature Society, American Bar Association and the International Association of Defense Counsel. He served on the board of directors and was president of the Iowa Defense Counsel Association. He also was a lifetime fellow and on the board of directors for the Iowa Academy of Trial Lawyers. He was a first lieutenant in the Army infantry division, serving from 1962 to 1964.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Scott Warner of Denver; one daughter, Wendy Nelson of Kansas City, Kansas; his mother of Burlington; three stepdaughters, Chantal Stiles of Belvidere, Illinois, Nathalie Girod of France and Laurence Girod of Chicago; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.

There will be no visitation.

The memorial service for Mr. Warner will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Christ Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Canon Patrick Genereux officiating.

Memorials have been establiished for the American Heart Association and the Burlington Public Library.
