Orva Marie Horn, 97, of Mount Pleasant, formerly of Mount Union and Yarmouth, died Thursday, September 7, 2000, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.

Born July 2, 1903, in Yarmouth, she was the daughter of Clyde Chester and Effie Myrtle Bowman Featherby. On October 6, 1920, she married James Everett Horn in Yarmouth. He died January 6, 1991.

Mrs. Horn was a farm wife and homemaker. She attended New London schools.

She was a member of Mount Union United Methodist Church, the LT Club and the Linger Longer Club. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, crafts, gardening and her family.

Survivors include two daughters, Helen Bauman of West Burlington and Mona Quiroga of Lancaster, California; one son, Clyde Earl Horn of New London; 24 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, three sons and five grandchildren.

Visitation will begin after 1 p.m. today at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Horn will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Bob Hary officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery in Mount Union.

Memorials have been established for the Yarmouth and Mount Union fire departments.
