Doris Rosa Close Wynn, 83, of Burlington came into the presence of her Lord and Savior at 11:09 a.m. on Monday, December 29, 2014.
Born on July 23, 1931, in Corydon, IA, she was the daughter of Otto L. Close and Edith Holliday Close Coon.
Doris was a graduate of Burlington High School. She married Raymond D. Wynn on December 16, 1951 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Burlington. She was a loving, dedicated wife and mother of seven children. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, canning/freezing, and doing anything that was of benefit to her husband and children. She never had an unkind word to say about anyone. Her husband says she was a member of the "Three C's Club." She never criticized, complained or condemned.
Doris was a member of Harmony Bible Church for nearly 50 years. In her younger years she hosted Good News Bible Clubs, served in the nursery, and taught children. She found pleasure in taking meals to those who were in need of help.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Don Close. She is survived by one sister, Robinette Schubert, and one sister-in-law, Lois Close, both of Burlington.
Survivors of her immediate family are her husband, Raymond D. Wynn, to whom she was married for 63 years. Her children are: Melinda Wynn Averbeck (Richard) of Pleasant Prairie, WI, Gary Wynn (Dorothy Armao) of Omaha, NE, Marcia Bishop (Frank) of Mishawaka, IN, Sarah Wynn of Burlington, Jonathan Wynn (JoAnn Nelson) of Burlington, Rachel Zaliwski of Henderson, NV, and Samuel Wynn of San Diego, CA. She was blessed with 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Burlington Baptist Church; 1225 Hagemann; Burlington.
Dr. Richard Averbeck and Pastor Kendall Adams will officiate.
