Hazel A. Schwerin, 95, of Burlington, formerly of Autumn Heights, died at 1:50 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at Burlington Medical Center.
Born Jan. 14, 1905, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Henry W. and Nettie Mae Hosler Timmerman. On Feb. 14, 1925, she married Carl Schwerin in Rock Island, Ill. He died in 1948.
Mrs. Schwerin was a homemaker.
She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10102 Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to cook and have her yard look pretty.
Survivors include two sons, Carl Schwerin Jr. of Mission, Texas, and Donald W. Schwerin of Vero Beach, Fla.; one daughter, Barbara M. Fritz of Burlington; 21 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Augusta Hoff and Dorothy Johnson, both of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, four sisters and one brother.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
The funeral for Mrs. Schwerin will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Carl Engstrom officiating. Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
