Josephine Frances Stewart, 79, of Burlington, died at 8:15 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2008, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born May 12, 1928, in Clarksdale, she was the daughter of Joseph and Florence Giogglio Cicco.
Mrs. Stewart worked as a cook and waitress at Bowl Inn and Grier's Restaurant. She worked at a bakery and took care of elderly people. She was a graduate of Centerville High School. She enjoyed playing Bingo, cooking and baking. She was a member of SS. John and Paul Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons, Frederick D. Stewart of Topeka, Kan., and Dennis W. Stewart of Burlington; four grandchildren; four sisters, Irene Faaro of Mystic, Jennie Sullivan of Kalona, Stella Baptist of Sylvis, Ill., and Phyllis Clayworth of Moravia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and three brothers.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Stewart will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Patrick Hilgendorf officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Special Needs Foundation.
