Mrs. Evelyn Louise Trosen, 88, of Burlington died at 4:35 p.m. Saturday, September 27, 2014, at Blair House.
Born November 26, 1925 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Walter Delbert and Josephine Pearl Liggett Robbins. On January 25, 1947 she married Wallace Warren Trosen Sr. in Burlington. He preceded her in death on September 16, 1993.
Mrs. Trosen was a 1943 graduate of Burlington High School and a 1946 graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing
She worked at Mercy Hospital, several doctor's offices, and later at Hope Haven's Douglas Home. She was a member of Two Rivers Good Neighbors Club, the Jane DeLano Nurses Association, VFW Auxiliary, and Eagles Auxiliary.
She attended the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and participated in many circles of the church. She was an avid Hawkeyes fan and loved reading and crocheting.
Survivors include three sons, James F. (Kathy) Trosen of Muscatine, Wallace W. (Ricki) Trosen Jr. of Kirksville, Missouri, and Mark A. (Rhonda) Trosen of Blue Springs, Missouri; one daughter, Cheryl A. (Bob) Nelson or Burlington; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren; two sisters, Hazel Burgus of Sperry and Agnes Hull of Wapello; and several nieces and nephews; and her helping friend and neighbor, Stephen Crane.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, and one brother.
Friends may call from noon until 8 p.m., Thursday, October 2nd, at Lunning Chapel. The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
The funeral service for Mrs. Trosen will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 3rd, at Lunning Chapel with Rev. David Yonker officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for First Christian Church and the Jane DeLano Nurses Association.
