Emma Ellen Jones, 85, of Burlington, died at 1214 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, 1996, at Burlington Medical Center.
Born July 25, 1911, in Cambria, she was the daughter of James M. and M. Florence Boise Miner. On Jan. 25, 1933, she married Emery K. Jones in Princeton, Mo. He died June 8, 1984.
Mrs. Jones was a graduate of Cambria High School in Cambria. She worked at the YMCA cafeteria for 18 years until it closed. She then worked as a cook at Oak Street Middle School until her retirement in 1976.
Survivors include three daughters, Peggy Davies of Reno, Nev., Margaret Applegarth of Burlington and Mary Chiaramonte of Des Moines; two sons, E. Kenneth Jones and William E. Jones, both of Burlington; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be after 8 a.m. Friday, at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Jones will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Shirley Bliven officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
