Mr. Robert L. Martin, 71, of Burlington died at 12:24 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born April 29, 1943 in Burlington he was the son of Laurence E. and Vivian L. (Smith) Martin. On June 15, 1964 he married Luwana K. Riley in Oakland, California.
Mr. Martin was a Burlington High School graduate and a Navy veteran. He was a tool and die maker and computer designer, retiring in 1992.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Luwana Martin of Burlington; two sons, Shane E. (Isabell) Martin of West Burlington and Chad D. (Sherry Good) Martin of Burlington; one daughter, Dori L. (Darrell) Westgate of Savannah, Georgia; 12 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; four sisters, Lois J. Vice of Conroe, Texas, Patricia L. (Ron) Meier of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Marty L. Caslyn of Tucson, Arizona and Linda M. Blint of Danville; and one brother, Lyle E. Martin of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one grandchild.
The graveside memorial funeral service and inurnment will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, August 22nd, at Keokuk National Cemetery. The Rev. Dean Graber will officiate. Military Rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 41 and the Navy Honor Guard. According to his wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
