Verna Arlene Haase, 92, of Burlington, formerly of Scottsbluff, NE, died at 7:50 AM Saturday, August 9, 2014, at the Blair House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Burlington.

Born March 12, 1922, in Fairbury, NE, she was the daughter of Clyde and Minnie Williams Wilson. On October 14, 1945, she married Melvin J. Haase in Fairbury, NE. He died July 27, 2002.

Verna worked in Customer Service at United Telephone Company of the West.

She graduated from Fairbury, Nebraska High School in 1940.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Scottsbluff, NE. She enjoyed gardening, ceramics and especially family history.

Survivors include two sons, Steven E. (Kathy) Haase of Burlington, and Richard A. Haase of Del Mar, CA; two grandchildren, Bryan (Melissa) Haase of Des Moines, and Chad (Monique) Haase of Roseville, CA; four great-grandchildren, Jacob, Alex, Nicolaus, and Kevin; one brother, Dale Wilson of Fairbury, NE; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Virginia Bankus and Mavis Patterson.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Thielen Crematory.

A private family burial for Mrs. Haase will be at a later date at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff, NE.

Memorials have been established to Great River Hospice in Burlington.
