MacArthur "Mac" Coffin Sr., 85, of Burlington died at 2:35 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008, at Blair House in West Burlington.
Born April 13, 1923, in Burlington, he was the son of Joseph H. and Janet MacArthur Coffin. On Aug. 10, 1947, he married Constance Bacher in Burlington.
Mr. Coffin was the senior partner of Frank Millard & Co. Inc., serving the company for more than 65 years. He was a member of the National Electrical Contractors of Iowa, Mechanical Contractors of Iowa, The Illowa Sheet Metal Association, and the ASHRAE. He was active in the Burlington Golf Club, Boy Scouts of America, BPOE 84 and a lifetime Moose Lodge member. He was a lifelong member of Christ Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steve Coffin and MacArthur Coffin, both of Burlington; one daughter, Sarah Vetter of DelMar, Calif.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, George Coffin of Burlington; one sister, Janet Brammeier of Glen Carbon, Ill.; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Prugh's Chapel in Burlington where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. Coffin will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Christ Episcopal Church in Burlington with the Rev. Wayne Kamm and Deacon George Rogerson officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for the Burlington Golf Club Legacy Fund, Mississippi Valley Council of Boy Scouts and Christ Episcopal Church.
