Barbara Borders, 70, of 405 East Henry, Mount Pleasant, died at 10:28 a.m. Wednesday, December 17, 1997, at Henry County Health Center.

Born April 23, 1927, near Sperry, in Franklin Township of Des Moines County, she was the daughter of Henry R. and Katherine Walker Miller. She married Howard D. Borders July 24, 1949, at Morning Sun.

She was a 1946 graduate of Yarmouth High School and moved to Mount Pleasant in 1947. She worked at E. A. Hayes Insurance office, Mount Pleasant News and Alaniz and Sons in Mount Pleasant, retiring in 1981. She was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Robert of Keokuk and Roger and Edward, both of Mount Pleasant; two daughters, Peggy White of Casa Grande, Arizona, and Beverly Borders of Bloomington, Indiana; and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will begin at noon Friday, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Weir Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant.

The funeral for Mrs. Borders will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Weir Funeral Home. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Henry County Cancer Fund.
