Richard Lee Osborne, 84, of Burlington, died at 2:33 PM Monday, November 24, 2014, at the Burlington Care Center in Burlington.

Born October 27, 1930, in Burlington, he was the son of William Harold and Margaret M. Fitzgerald Osborne. On October 17, 1952, he married Ella Mae Adams in Kahoka, MO.

Richard worked for C B & Q Railroad and then was a self-employed truck driver for over 30 years, retiring in 1992.

He was a U.S. Marines Veteran, serving during the Korean War from December 29, 1950 until May 10, 1952. He held the rank of Corporal receiving the Korean Service Medal with Star and United Nations Ribbons.

He enjoyed going to flea markets, fishing, hunting, and mushroom hunting. He loved to play cards and games of any kind. He especially enjoyed his time spent with his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Ella Mae; three daughters, Becky (Chris) Barr of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Janey (Bob) Timmerman of Wapello, IA, and Robbie (Randy) Ford of Burlington; six grandchildren, Rob (Tina) Pforts, Ed (April) Pforts, Traci (Jason) Bender, Tammy Barr, Brandon Ford, and Sara (Bruce) Ware, one step-granddaughter, Haley Henn, 22 great-grandchildren, three brothers, William Osborne of Burlington, John Osborne of Burlington, and Jim Osborne of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Robert Osborne, one sister, Shirley Schwartz, and four step-brothers, Denver Wagner, Bill Wagner, Austin Wagner, and Darl Wagner, Jr.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Thielen Crematory.

Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM Wednesday at Thielen Funeral Home where the family will receive friends.

The memorial service for Mr. Osborne will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor Dianne Brokken officiating and full military honors rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery at a later date.

Thielen Funeral Home & Crematory is in care of the arrangements.

A memorial has been established for Burlington Care Center.
