Lawrence Walter Krieger, 82, of Morning Sun, died at 1:35 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2004, at Morning Sun Care Center.

Born May 5, 1921, in Flint Hills Township, he was the son of Walter Edward and Elsie Marie Meyer Krieger. On January 12, 1943, he married Marcille Martha Lucas in Mediapolis.

Mr. Krieger lived in the Sperry/Dodgeville area and farmed all his life. he worked at the Pleasant Grove Quarry at different times.

He was a member of the Salem Lutheran Cemetery Association Board of Directors.

He enjoyed playing cards, bingo, singing and fishing.

Survivors include one daughter, Ellen Campbell of Mount Pleaant; two sons, Larry Krieger of Mediapolis and Don Krieger of Ottumwa; one brother, Floyd Krieger of Burlington; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; eight nieces and nephews; and five cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paretns, three brothers, two sisters, an infant son and his special friends, Phia Woodall.

Visitation will begin at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday at Prugh's Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Krieger will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Prugh's Chapel with the Rev. Gary Boschee officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for the Salem Lutheran Cemetery Association and the Morning Sun Care Center Activity Fund.
