Mrs. Doris L. Tyner, 84, of rural Sperry, Iowa died at 8:18 p.m. Saturday, November 8, 2014, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born on February 6, 1930, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Dewey and Gertrude Dehner Wagner. On April 18, 1954, she married Lee Tyner at Salem Lutheran Church.
Doris was a homemaker and farmed beside her husband Lee.
She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and former board member of the Old Stone Cemetery Association.
Doris was an active member of the Willing Workers Club and enjoyed doing that very much. She loved her family, husband, grandchildren, son, and daughter-in-law. She loved to cook for anyone and spent a lot of time in the kitchen baking for family, church and others. In her younger days she was a member of the Des Moines County Saddle Club where she enjoyed showing horses and became Queen representing Des Moines County at the Ft. Madison Rodeo. Doris spent her life making life better for others and loved travelling with Lee in retirement.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years Lee; one son, Rusty (Carmen) Tyner of rural Sperry; two grandchildren, Eric Lee Tyner of rural Sperry and Candice Moss of Burlington; her twin brother, Don Wagner of Mediapolis; two nephews, Dean (Margaret) Wagner of Sperry and Thomas (Tammy) Wagner of Mediapolis, and three great nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and one great nephew, Jeremy Wagner.
Friends may call after noon on Tuesday, November 11th, at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
The funeral service for Doris L. Tyner will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Lunning Chapel with Pastor Kathleen Wohlers officiating. Interment will be in Old Stone Cemetery, rural Sperry, Iowa.
A memorial has been established for Peace Lutheran Church.
