Myranell Rebecca Dockendorff, 94, of Danville, died Friday, June 6, 2014 at the Danville Care Center.
She was born March 11, 1920 in New London, the daughter of Granville Roy and Rebecca Delilah King Hill. She was a 1937 graduate of New London High School and on March 14, 1940, she married Donald Earl Dockendorff. He passed away June 23, 1990.
Mrs. Dockendorff was the Des Moines County Auditor for over 20 years and ushered in the use of voting machines. She was very active in her community supporting the Danville Community School by attending her children's activities and sports, and was in Band Mothers and the PTA. She was a member of the Danville United Methodist Church, UMW, Circle, and worked on committees wherever she was needed. She was a 50 year member of Danville Chapter #514 Order of the Eastern Star, serving as Secretary for 25 years, Worthy Matron, Grand Representative to North Dakota, and other offices. She supported Altrusa in Burlington, serving as District Governor for one year. Myranell was the center of the world to her family.
She is survived by sons, Gary (Jane) Dockendorff and John (Sandy) Dockendorff, both of Danville; daughter, Delores Westfall of Pueblo West, Colorado; daughter-in-law, Molly Dockendorff of Danville; twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Monte Dockendorff; daughter, Pamela Pressley; grandson, Brian Dockendorff; great-great-grandson, Riley Caulfield; brothers, Merwyn Hill and Frank Hill; and sons-in-law, Karl Westfall and David Pressley.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the Danville United Methodist Church. Carrie Duncan will officiate. Burial will be in Jaggar Cemetery, rural Danville. Friends may call after noon on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Elliott Chapel, New London, with the family greeting friends from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. Memorials have been established to the Danville United Methodist Church, the Danville Enhancement Committee, and the Sunnybrook Foundation.
