Tracing father's history

My father was born in Manchester, IA 1/16/1916. His father, Timothy, died in 1925, leaving his mother, Ruby (Durling) Priest with a bunch of kids and not enough money coming in. My dad's youngest brother went to live with an older sibling and her husband, but my dad was "farmed out" to a family with the last name of Tucker who I believe lived in Strawberry point. I am trying to find the link that might lead to some information about what the experience was like for him or what the people he lived with were like.
