Services Friday

Funeral services were held at the Clifton Funeral Home at 2 pm Friday for Col. Fred T. Arnold, 85, former Earlville resident who died at Honolulu, Hawaii April 26. The Rev. Charles Fort, pastor of the Methodist church officiated, and burial was made in Fairview Cemetery. The American Legion Post assisted in the service.

Col. Arnold was a son of Henry & Sarah Arnold, one of a family of eight children. He was born on the parental farm near Earlville April 6, 1871, and lived here until he was 17 years old, when he entered West Point. He graduated from there and served in various locations with the Army until his retirement.

He is survived by his widow, five daughters; one sister, Mrs. W. H. Sharp; one brother, Henry Arnold; and one brother Charles Arnold of Oelwein
